What a better way to spend a summer night than a FREE party?
I forgot mention a FREE party with BIG names in music!
A lineup this good… I thought that there must have been a catch.
I was already over the moon that we were literally on the edge of the stage. Truth be told, some people were turned away due to the overwhelming response and we were at least the third, fourth and fifth people who started queuing before the doors opened.
Funnily enough, I made awkward eye-contact with several confused kids and their parents as it happened to be was a leisure center with a pool. I’ve actually been in York Hall before for a Vintage Sale, last year. Never knew it would turn into a Summer Party venue…
First up was Martin Solveig, the French DJ extraordinaire most well-known for the following dance-worthy music below:
Just go on a beautiful YouTube auto-play journey and there would be a healthy amount of Martin Solveig and amazing remixes to discover along the way…
Next up was Becky Hill though not a massively popular name, her voice is synonymous with the dance/electric/house scene.
Disadvantages of being so close up to the stage is the awkward angles. Trust me here are reasons I don’t wear skirts… If her name still doesn’t ring any bells here have this:
I would have suggested Overdrive, her collaboration with Oliver Heldens, but the music video is downright creepy and I would have rather not seen it…*cries to self*
Duke Dumont hopped on the decks and proved yet again why he was only of the most popular DJs to produce one of the most iconic summer songs.
(Photo not found so here’s another music throwback)
Clean Bandit steps on stage, at least two of them, but that did not take away from the amazing energy and music they emitted on stage. I just danced and sang away as the sound elevated my mood to an all-time high. I would LOVE to see them again in an intimate venue.
After four hours of non-stop dancing and singing, my body was heavily dehydrated and was desperate for a drink. My companions felt the same so we ventured away from the stage to get a taste of salvation.
We all agreed to never take water for granted again… #StayHydratedKids
We stuck around for Gorgon City‘s banging set but we were already danced out and exhausted. The yearning for a sleep was greater than our desire to see Sub Focus (sorry)…
It was an amazing night.
Thanks to Notion Magazine for hosting such an amazing event. I’m definitely inviting myself to the next one (unless I’m abroad)…
